How it all began

We are a venture-backed startup founded by two of the leading Stanford AI researchers (Richard Socher and Bryan McCann) who did the groundbreaking research in ML-based Natural Language Processing that enables computers to understand language with over 190,000 research citations and over a dozen patents. Using the philosophical concept that you shall know the meaning of a word based on the company that it keeps, they used conceptualized word vectors to better understand the meaning of a query or prompt by considering the context in which all the words are presented.

They wanted to teach a model language so it could use language to do other things just like humans do - a unified AI model. This research led to the biggest improvements in search since Google’s inception and some the early ChatGPT GenAI advances in 2022. This research and the resulting technological advancements it led to are the foundations of accuracy and, ultimately, trust in GenAI.
