  • Chat history: If you want to revisit an old chat, you can do so by selecting a previously generated conversation from your chat history, which is conveniently located in the left sidebar panel. This feature helps you pick up where you left off or review past interactions. You can also add a chat to your favorites list, share it, rename it, add it to a Project, or delete it by selecting the three-dot menu next to a chat in your chat history. Core AI Concepts

  • An LLM (Large Language Model) is a sophisticated type of artificial intelligence model designed to understand and generate human-like text. These models are trained on vast amounts of text data, which enables them to predict and produce coherent language based on the input they receive.
  • The concept of a prompt refers to the input or question you provide to the AI. This can be a statement, a question, or any text that guides the model in generating a relevant response. The clarity and specificity of your prompt significantly influence the quality of the AI’s output.
  • In-context learning is another important concept, describing the AI’s ability to learn and adapt to new information within the context of a conversation. Rather than requiring explicit retraining, the model can generate appropriate responses simply by understanding the ongoing context provided in the input.
  • However, it’s important to be aware of hallucination, which occurs when the AI generates information that is incorrect, misleading, or entirely fabricated. This happens because the model predicts text based on patterns in its training data, rather than accessing real-time factual information. To address this, You.com combats hallucination by providing source citations and enforcing fact-based reasoning, helping users trust the information generated by the AI.

Effective Prompting & Use Cases

Effective prompting is essential for getting the most out of AI systems like You.com, and it involves several key practices and use cases.

  • Natural language prompting means interacting with the AI using plain, everyday English rather than technical jargon or code. This approach makes it easy for anyone to communicate their needs to the AI, ensuring that the system can understand and respond appropriately. The concept of adding context refers to making your prompt as specific and detailed as possible. The more information and clarity you provide in your prompt, the more accurate and relevant the AI’s response will be. For example, instead of asking a vague question, you might specify the industry, the type of task, or the desired format for the answer, which helps the AI tailor its output to your needs.
  • You.com supports a wide range of sample use cases across more than 45 business applications, demonstrating the versatility of effective prompting. These use cases span industries such as healthcare, finance, legal, manufacturing, and software development. For instance, in healthcare, AI can automate medical documentation or assist with diagnosing rare diseases; in finance, it can help with fraud detection and automated reporting; in legal, it can review contracts and conduct legal research; in manufacturing, it can optimize supply chains and predict maintenance needs; and in software development, it can generate code or analyze data. By leveraging natural language prompting and providing detailed context, users can unlock powerful AI-driven solutions tailored to their specific business challenges

Example Use Cases

  • Summarize Meeting Notes: Attach a photo of handwritten notes and ask for a summary.
  • Research Industry Benchmarks: Request objectives and measurements for your business sector.
  • Contract Analysis: Upload a contract PDF and ask for risk assessment.
  • Email Generation: Have the AI draft professional follow-up emails.
  • Job Description Creation: Generate and refine job postings with clarifying questions.
  • Data Analysis: Upload survey results for instant insights.

Custom Agents

A custom agent in You.com is a specialized AI tool that you or your organization can create to automate and streamline specific tasks or workflows. Unlike the built-in agents (such as Smart, Research, Creative, or Genius), a custom agent is designed and configured by users to meet unique needs. When creating a custom agent, you define its name and description to clarify its purpose, write detailed instructions (which act as the prompt), select the underlying AI model, and manage the sources of information it will use—such as attached documents or specific websites. You can also control who has access to the agent, making it private, shared within a team, or public. Once created, a custom agent can be saved, reused, and shared, allowing for repeatable and consistent execution of complex or routine tasks. This makes custom agents a powerful way to standardize processes, improve productivity, and ensure that best practices are followed across your organization. You can read more about best practices for building custom agents here.
