Who we are
As AI researchers, we've always been driven to work on hard problems, especially the ones considered “solved.”
In 2020, we saw the opportunity to reimagine search with AI, and left Salesforce to start You.com. We were the first to embed large language models (LLMs) into the traditional search experience. Pre-ChatGPT.
By 2022, we were the first company to connect an LLM to live web access, providing real-time, verifiable responses with citations.
Today, our AI conducts in-depth searches, runs code, generates images, and uses tools to enhance productivity. Rethinking the search engine has evolved into something far more powerful: A productivity engine.
Richard and Bryan met at Stanford in 2013, and have been working together ever since.
With a shared passion for natural language processing, they invented contextualized word vectors, leading to some of the biggest improvements in search since Google began.
Most notably, in 2018, their DecaNLP paper "demonstrated it was possible to train a single model to infer and perform many different tasks," according to the creators of GPT at OpenAI.
